Paper Towels – An Essential tool in The Kitchen
For instance, when preparing lettuce for salad, drain-off excess water after washing by laying the leaves in between paper towel sheets. The salad dressing will adhere better if the leaves are dry.

Furthermore, use a thick and absorbent paper towel when draining excess oil. Take for example, bacon, instead of putting the bacon directly on the strainer after it has been deep fried, put a layer of a paper towel on the strainer and put the bacon on top of the paper towel so the oil can be absorbed. You can do the same with luncheon meat, French fries, fish crackers, hot dogs, fried chicken, and other food that are prepared with lots of cooking oil.
No need to have a wash cloth nearby so long as you’ve got a roll of the paper towels. After baking or cooking one can reach for a sheet of a paper towel and dispose of the stains and spills at an instant. A wash cloth would have to store up all the grime in the kitchen long before one decides to wash it. It’s very unhygienic. When drying plates and glasses, one can also reach for paper towels. Its absorbent material takes away all excess water, leaving your glassware spotless.
When heating food inside the microwave or baking a pie in the oven, one can’t do without a pot holder. The tendency of cloth pot holders though, is to be used several before it is washed. Sometimes, nobody even notices how long a pot holder stays unwashed in the kitchen. This is not hygienic. And imagine it comes in close contact with the food you are about to eat!
If you use paper towels instead, you are guaranteed of a clean pot holder each time. And since it’s disposable, there’s no hassle of washing. It’s thick enough to withstand heat, and you can measure the amount of pulls you need to pad a hot meal straight from the oven.

Yes, paper towels can really come in handy in the kitchen for the various uses they can be utilized as you mentioned in your post. The problem is, those paper towels are quite expensive in the Phils. Di kaya nang budget nang average Pinoy family. Ang alam lang nang most Pinoys eh yung toilet paper at madalas yung mayayaman lang ang gumagamit nito. The great unwashed just rely on the ever present soap and water and the ubiquitous tabo, lol. Sorry for the vulgar languages. I just reflect the average Pinoy nuances. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
